Burn the Coal, Mold the Goal
Burn the Coal, Mold the Goal
I don’t know why it rains whenever I go out on important work. Clouds do like me and as a result, I get soaked and with no other option, I stop by bike aside under a tree or roof and wait till the drops stop dropping. Slowly, my nose senses an aroma of something which is a kind of roasted and salted. As my head turns around to see the source for that aroma. Then eyes see, there was a street vendor selling corn roadside in the rain. Looking from a distance, hunger pangs got activated and I ordered one.
As I’m created to be curious, I started observing the process of making it. Initially it begins with selecting a suitable corn, and peeling off the pale green skin and brownish fibers. Now, cleaning it one last time. Take a hand fan and wave it on the burning coal, which are on the same cart. Hold the shank and lift it, place it in the center of coal and start waving with the hand fan. Within a few seconds, the side turns black and rotate it till roasted, apply salt and lemon. Yayy!! It’s now delicious and ready to enjoy.
While I was observing this entire flow, one thought popped up in my mind. When corn is roasted on coal, it’s exposed to heat and fire flakes. A lustrous golden yellow corn starts turning black. Each wave of hand fan provides air for the coal to burn more, this acts as a catalyst to fasten the roasting. Sometime later, all these factors turn the raw corn into a delicious recipe.
The same principle applies to our life as well, in a few scenarios we end up making decisions which we don’t like. However, we step in with guidance of elders and well-wishers. In that process, we get burnt, face struggles, sleepless nights, do things which we don’t like to, but at last we end up in a fruitful stage. A simple example of mine, back in the year 2020 when I couldn’t get into medical college to pursue bachelor’s in medicine. I was heartbroken, and felt there was no option to continue. When my family understood my position, they acted as a factor to guide me and joined me in bachelor’s in business administration. During the first year, I felt very bad sitting in the classroom where my goal doesn’t belong. But slowly interacting with faculties, staff, classmates etc. Changed my directions. I entered into the National Cadet Corps, became head coordinator of Management Club, and during the final year, I was elected as the President for Student council. Worked in 2 research papers, wrote many stories, delivered speeches in colleges across the city and concluded with a few good job offers in hand. All those words and push I received when I failed, acted as factors [burnt coal, hand fan, waves of air] to a better me. If I had made the decision of long-term preparation, I may not have gotten all these opportunities. All these factors turned me into a fruitful one!
From now, when we get stuck at a phase where we’re forced or given to take up a decision which we don’t like. Don’t hesitate. It may not put you in your expectations, however it’ll teach you fruitful lessons.
