Once Again !
Once Again !
My hand was paining, however I continued to say “I shall give respect to my parents, teachers and all elders” and after dropped hand down. Woah!! What a relief. “Disperse to your classes,” said the headmistress. Rohan and I walked together into the classroom 7th B, looked at empty bench in 7th row, and both of us rushed to occupy the seats. Made our shoulders free, suddenly Rohan reminded “Arey!! Have you done the Math’s homework? with an astonishing face “Shit! I didn’t. Now how to escape ra” I replied.
As soon as math madam
entered classroom, girls started to sing “Good Morning Ma’amm” except those
like me. Mam is very intelligent & before she greeting us, asked us to
bring the books and keep them on her table. Then stood a girl from 1st
bench Vaishnavi, the teacher’s pet, topper of class and my forever enemy too. I
looked towards….with red lights & made no noise. Now, madam started calling
out roll. No’s, eventually came mine. “Roll.no: 21 K. Nithin” she called for 2
times and as I started to hide, she shouted for 3rd time.
I stepped out of the bench as it seemed like stepping into a haunted house alone. I folded my hands, combed my hair, as took steps as very innocent with dumbness painted on my face. “I completed the homework mam, but forgot the book at home.” I lied. She grabbed a slim stick and there was instant mehndi on my palm. “Don’t ever lie to me Once again, go, kneel down out of the classroom till bell rings.” As soon I went out and kneeled, one other creature joined me with much more mehndi, guess who. Yes, it was Rohan. Then got to know that he hasn’t done homework too. In that situation too, we both laughed at each other. 🤭
That evening after
reaching home, I completed homework and slept peacefully. The next day arrived
to school with full of confidence and sat in the 2nd bench. Sharp
9am, Math madam entered classroom. I was eagerly waiting, thinking when will
she call me and finally she called. I lifted my bag to take out book, my heart skipped a beat. This time I really forgot book “Oh! Shit, Once Again she’ll
beat me.” I told myself & same happened as day before. Myself and Rohan
went out, but with someone special. Vaishnavi also too stood out along with us
as she forgot her book. Initially, I hesitated to speak, but in a hour we
became good friends and continued bond till 10th. Those days in
2014. 😊
Recently while
passing through market, I saw my math teacher and ran towards her to take
blessings. We had a long conversation recollecting all beautiful memories. How
lucky it’d be if we could go to all those innocent classroom days Once Again….
